Twins Blog: A New Look On The Field
The Minnesota Twins will have a whole new look for the 2015 season and it's not because they have a new manager. The team revealed a new primary home uniform.
The biggest difference: the pinstripes are out; gold is in.
The new, more contemporary design features the team's traditional Twins lettering in navy blue, highlighted in scarlet and Minnesota Kasota Gold. The pants also have a scarlet, gold and navy piping down the leg.
The new gold highlight is a nod to the Mankato limestone throughout Target Field. It was also featured in the Twins 2014 All-Star Game jerseys.
The team will also have new, matching navy, scarlet and gold hats.
"We are excited to introduce a new contemporary primary home uniform which evolves our brand via the introduction of a gold accent color representative of our home state, as well as our home ballpark," said Dave St. Peter, Twins President.
These new jerseys will replace the Twins long-standing white pinstriped uniforms, which the Twins had worn those since 1987. Since they won their two World Series championships wearing those iconic jerseys, they'll still be seen at games for years to come.
The Twins say the players will continue to wear the 1961 throwback uniforms as an alternate for home games. Those were introduced in 2010. The gray and navy blue uniforms will remain in the rotation for road games.
The new 2014 gold accented uniforms are now available at Twins pro shops and online. A replica runs around $90 while an authentic will cost closer $230. There's also a woman's cut available for $70. The hats are $35.
