Twins And P Liriano Agree On 1-Year, $4.3M Deal
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minnesota Twins avoided arbitration Saturday and agreed to terms with left-handed pitcher Francisco Liriano on a one-year, $4.5 million contract.
Last year, 27-year-old Liriano was 14-10 with a 3.62 ERA, allowing 184 hits with 58 walks and 201 strikeouts in 31 starts. He was the American League Pitcher of the Month last April and finished the first half of the season with 117 strikeouts, which is the fourth most in the American League.
Liriano, who was named American League Comeback Player of the Year by MLB.com, set a career-high by winning eight consecutive decisions from July 16 to Sept. 4, 2010.
