MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Attorney Saiko McIvor of St. Louis Park says she talked with her parents who live in Sendai, Japan the day before the big earthquake. They said there had been a minor earthquake earlier in the week, but then came the big quake and ever since McIvor has not been able to reach them.
"I'm just worried sick about their well being. My parents are 81 and 83," said McIvor.

A massive tsunami swept into Sendai Friday leaving a path of death and destruction.
McIvor said she's hopeful her parents and siblings are OK but nagging concerns linger.
"Particularly my mother ... she's 81 and you know, she's frail. She may have fallen and broke her bone or something, but I have no idea how they are doing," said McIvor.
She says other Japanese-Americans in the Twin Cities have an agreement that if somebody reaches a relative in Sendai they will notify the others. So far there's been no contact.
