Twin Cities In Motion Dedicating 1-Mile Race To Marathon Victims
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Officials with the Twin Cities Marathon said Wednesday they'll dedicate one of their races to the victims of the bombing attacks at the Boston Marathon.
Officials said the Twin Cities 1-Mile race on Thursday, May 9, will be dedicated to the Boston Marathon bombing victims. Twin Cities in Motion officials said they'll donate 10 percent of every runner's entry fee to the victims of the attacks and match that contribution for a total of about $10,000.
The Twin Cities Marathon 1-Mile race runs down Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis, and participants will be asked to wear yellow and blue apparel at the race as a show of support to the Boston Marathon victims.
Twin Cities in Motion has also set up a platform for those who wish to make one-time donations or participate in events where proceeds will go to the bombing victims. The one-mile race will start just before 7 p.m. Thursday, May 9.
The full Twin Cities Marathon will be held on Sunday, Oct. 6.
