Twin Cities Filmmakers Enter Super Bowl Ad Contest
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A group of Twin Cities filmmakers could have their Doritos commercial chosen to run in Super Bowl XLVI.
The commercial, created by Minnesota-based Flip Script Films, starts with the end of an amateur football game. A big bad football player turns to the wimpy new guy and says, "Hey new guy! You play fantasy?" He replies "yeah" with a big smile. "My place Sunday," says the player.
When he arrives at the home on Sunday, he knocks on the door and is greeted by the big bad football player dressed as a wizard from "Harry Potter."
"We have a lot of friends who do the fantasy football as well as the LARPing (Live Action Role Playing)," said Gabe Steinberg, creative director of Flip Script Films. "We have all these guys that have all these costumes. They said 'Let's do this' and I was like yeah. This is going to be funny."
Their commercial is now being featured on the "Doritos Crash the Super Bowl" contest web site. One comment says, "This is by far the funniest Doritos commercial ever!"
This is Steinberg's second attempt at winning the contest. Their first commercial called, "The Crunch Account," didn't make it to the finals.
The shoot for their newest commercial took 30 people and about nine hours. Steinberg said one of the challenges was working with a miniature horse they dressed as a tiny unicorn.
"When you put a horse in a house it's kind of tough to have it do what you want it to do at the right time," said Steinberg.

Steinberg will find out Wednesday if his spot will make the top five. That'll earn his company a check for $25,000. The top five videos will be voted on by the public and the winner will have his commercial run during the Super Bowl.
If the commercial is selected as funniest Super Bowl ad, they could win $1 million.
"The cool thing is being able to work with all my friends here and create this good content in the midwest," said Steinberg.
