Twin Cities Called To Donate On 'Give To The Max' Day
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- It's Charity Week at WCCO-TV as we put the spotlight on local organizations which go the extra mile to give back to the community.
Thursday marks one of the biggest initiatives as it's "Give to the Max" Day. Helping Paws in Hopkins is just one of several local organizations that are taking part in the day. Pam Anderson with Helping Paws said "Give to the Max" Day is a special day for their company.
She said they have eight golden retriever puppies who will be going to new foster homes next week and they are still looking for sponsors for those dogs. She said Helping Paws has the goal to raise $60,000 on "Give to the Max" Day.
Anderson calls the day the "Super Bowl of Giving" in Minnesota.
Helping Paws takes donations for their service dogs, which provide assistance for people with disabilities as well as veterans who suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Anderson said these service dogs make a big difference for someone who has a disability. All of the trainers for Helping Paws who work with the service dogs spend up to two years with them before they are ready to help someone in need.
