AP: Donald Trump Wins Presidential Race In Wisconsin

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Associated Press has called the presidential race in Wisconsin for Republican candidate Donald Trump, effectively giving him enough electoral votes to become the 45th president of the United States.

Election Results: U.S. Presidential Race (Wisconsin)

Wisconsin was regarded for most of the 2016 election cycle as a swing state, though one more comfortable for Democratic hopeful Hillary Clinton than her Republican opponent Donald Trump.

The last time Wisconsin went for the Republican candidate in a presidential race was in 1984, when the state swung toward GOP incumbent Ronald Reagan. That year, Minnesota was the only state that tilted Blue, in favor of Minnesota-native challenger Walter Mondale.

CBS News reported that U.S. House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wisconsin) wound up voting for Trump, but told his GOP colleagues on a conference call he would no longer campaign for or defend Trump.
