Troops From Duluth Headed To Afghanistan
DULUTH, Minn. (WCCO) – About 300 troops from Duluth are headed to Afghanistan in August as part of Operation Freedom, according to the Minnesota National Guard.
Officials said the 148th Fighter Wing personnel, plus aircraft, will deploy to the Kandahar Air Field in Afghanistan in August. It's their first deployment, and officials said it should last about two months.
It's also the first time the Minnesota National Guard is sending the new Block 50 F-16 aircraft to Afghanistan.
