Trial In Lake Elmo Homicide Continues Monday
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- A prosecutor says a man plotted to kill another man who was trying to sell a car on Craigslist, but his defense attorney says the shooting was accidental.
Testimony in the trial of 20-year-old Dao Xiong started Friday.
Xiong, of Oakdale, is accused of killing 33-year-old Youa Ty Lor on Sept. 9 in Lake Elmo and stealing his car.
Assistant Washington County Attorney John Fristik said the motivation was a Nissan 350Z that Lor advertised on Craigslist.
The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports two days before the killing, Xiong sent a text to a friend, asking him if he wanted to help kill a guy.
His defense lawyer F. Clayton Tyler says the gun was meant to scare Lor but it went off accidentally.
Xiong's trial continues Monday.
