Trial For Albert Lea City Manager To Start Monday
ALBERT LEA, Minn. (AP) -- The trial for the former city manager Albert Lea starts on Monday in southern Minnesota.
Jim Norman is accused of misusing the city-issued credit card for about $2,300 in personal purchases.
The 57-year-old, who now lives in Wisconsin, has pleaded not guilty to six counts of permitting false claims against government, one count of theft with the intent to exercise temporary control and one count of misconduct by a public officer.
He started full time as city manager on May 3, 2010, but was placed on administrative leave after initial charges were filed nearly four months later. He resigned in September.
Norman has argued that he was misled and has repaid the debt to the city.
The Albert Lea Tribune reports the trial has been scheduled for five days.
