Trial Begins For Zimbabwe Guide In Cecil Killing
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The trial for the hunting guide accused of failing to stop a Minnesota dentist from killing Cecil the lion starts in Zimbabwe.
Bloomington dentist Dr. Walter Palmer admitted to killing the popular lion while on a hunting trip in Zimbabwe this summer.
His paid guide, Theo Bronkhorst, has been charged with failing to prevent an illegal hunt. He faces up to 15 years in jail.
Bronkhorst has said the case against him is "frivolous and wrong." He told reporters he believed he had the right permits and did not break the law.
