Transformer Blows Up In Building Basement
ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. (WCCO) -- Crews are on the scene of a reported explosion and fire in a St. Louis Park, Minn. office building.
According to authorities, a transformer blew in the basement of the Epicor building located off Highways 169 and 394, causing an electrical fire. The fire started around 10:15 a.m. and knocked out power to all four surrounding buildings.
According to police, the explosion pushed the electrical room doors out and the smoke was so heavy that firefighters had a hard time getting to the fire.
Epicor is a 22-story building and about 800 employees were sent home for the day.
There were no injuries.
Twelve metro fire departments responded to the three-alarm fire.
