Towns Named Western Conference Rookie Of The Month

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Minnesota Timberwolves forward/center Karl-Anthony Towns was named the Western Conference Rookie of the Month for December on Monday.

Towns is the second player in franchise history to win the award in consecutive months. Andrew Wiggins won it in November and December in 2014, and in January and February of 2015. Towns had a big December, leading all qualifying rookies in scoring (18.6 points per game), rebounding (9.5 per game), minutes played and field goal accuracy. He was also second blocked shots and third in free-throw percentage.

Towns also led all rookies with eight double-doubles. The Timberwolves went 4-12 in December.

The Timberwolves (12-22) are in Philadelphia to face the 76ers (3-33) Monday night.
