Fire Damages Town Home In Plymouth
PLYMOUTH, Minn. (WCCO) – Authorities say a town home in the west Twin Cities metro suffered significant damage after a fire late Tuesday morning.
Authorities responded to a report of a fire at about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at a town home on the 2700 block of Shenandoah Lane North in Plymouth. While crews were en route to the scene, officials said they could see the smoke in the air so they knew they were headed to an active fire.
Crews arrived to a find a four-unit town home with one of its end units fully engulfed in flames. Officials said the fire was spreading to the second level of the unit and starting to go through the roof.
Authorities said nobody was inside the town home at the time of the fire, and they were able to put out the blaze quickly. No occupants or firefighters were hurt in the fire.
It comes less than 24 hours after a fire destroyed a north Minneapolis home on Christmas Eve and left seven people displaced.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but authorities said the occupant had a fire going in the fireplace of the unit earlier in the day Tuesday. The occupant smelled smoke later on and got out before calling authorities.
