Tornado Hit Near Solon Springs, Wis.
SOLON SPRINGS, Wis. (AP) -- The National Weather Service in Duluth is reporting that a tornado hit near Solon Springs in northwestern Wisconsin during a fierce storm that moved across the region Friday night.
According to a preliminary survey, the most significant damage seen by a weather service survey team was consistent with an EF2 tornado, with peak winds estimated at 120 mph to 130 mph.
The Duluth News Tribune reports the tornado traveled about 3 miles over three minutes. A few people were hurt, but no one was killed.
The weather service reported the tornado shifted a manufactured home off its foundation and destroyed a wood-frame home.
Friday's tornado was the first to hit Douglas County since a weak tornado briefly touched down near Maple on Aug. 23, 1998.
