Top-Notch Totino Grace Pitcher To Join Gophers
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A top pitcher on a staff is critical in baseball – it's even more important in softball, where they can throw almost every game.
Totino Grace High School has one. Her name is Erica Meyer and she is a future Gopher.
Meyer's love of softball started when she was a kid.
"Well, I think I was about 8, and my cousins from Nebraska always played and I saw them play," Meyers said. "So I guess I was watching them play and so I told my mom that I'd like to try that."
Since she started pitching at Totino Grace in 2008, she has been carrying her team victory.
"She's a real competitor on the mound," said Harrington, the Totino Grace softball coach.
As well as being a star pitcher, she's also one of the team's best hitters. With all of her talent, she will join the Gophers next season.
"She doesn't say a whole lot, she's a true leader," Harrington said. "We're just happy to have her here."
