Tommies Blog: St. Thomas Tops River Falls, Now 2-0
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Starting off the season with two wins is great, but St. Thomas football coach Glenn Caruso is much happier with the improvement he's seen in his team since their Week 1 win over St. Norbert.
The Tommies got six touchdowns from their running game, including four from senior Colin Tobin, in a 45-22 win at UW-River Falls on Saturday. Tobin finished with 122 yards in the game.
"What I'm most happy about is the improvement we made after the first game," Caruso said. "Our first game looked like a typical first game, and we corrected a lot of mistakes this week. Colin certainly did a nice job and made a few guys miss. Our line did a good job in front of him and it was nice to see him have a good day."
St. Thomas collected 229 rushing yards and didn't have a single turnover in the game.
The Tommies' defense forced two fumbles and was led by Tony Danna, who had 12 tackles. Three different players also had at least two tackles for a loss in the game.
Here is more from the victory on the St. Thomas web site.
