Tommies Blog: St. Thomas Releases 2013 Football Schedule
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – St. Thomas football coach Glenn Caruso announced Thursday the 2013 schedule for the Tommies football team.
For those who keep track, it's going to look awfully familiar. That's because St. Thomas will face the exact same teams it had on its 2012 regular season schedule, but at the opposite sites. For the third straight regular season, the Tommies went 10-0 and won their third consecutive MIAC title.
St. Thomas will be coming off a 14-1 season where it won four home playoff games before losing to Mount Union in the Division III National Championship game.
The Tommies will open the 2013 regular season on Sept. 7 on their home field against UW-Eau Claire, a squad they had to come from behind to beat on the road this season. Then in rare Thursday night appearance, St. Thomas will travel to UW-River Falls on Sept. 12 before opening the MIAC schedule in St. Paul against rival St. John's.
St. Thomas will have its bye on Sept. 28. The second half of the schedule definitely features some tough games. The Tommies travel to Bethel on Oct. 19. They also hit the road to face Augsburg Nov. 2. They'll host Concordia-Moorhead Nov. 9 for their final regular season home game. St. Thomas will finish the regular season at St. Olaf Nov. 16.
The first round of the NCAA Playoffs would start Nov. 23 at a site to be determined. The Tommies have reached the NCAA Division III Playoffs five straight seasons.
Every game for the 2013 season will be broadcast on WCCO Radio 830 AM. St. Thomas will return 16 of 24 starters from this year's team.
