Tomato Fest Set For Downtown Minneapolis In July
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Get ready to toss your tomatoes. The third annual Midwest Tomato Fest will once again take over downtown Minneapolis in July.
Known as the nation's largest tomato-toss, the event will converge on a square-block area on Portland Avenue and Fourth Street on July 13.
The gates open at 2 p.m. and the event will also feature live music, dunk tanks and a bean bag toss.
A beer garden, sponsored by Grain Belt, will also feature fair foods and brews.
The tomato toss will begin around 6 p.m. with thousands of pounds of tomatoes -- even more than the first two years.
New this year? A shower tunnel exit for festival-goers to leave the event in a somewhat cleaner state.
