Toddler Found Wandering In Blue Earth County
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A man from Mankato may have saved a child's life after he found the boy wandering on Tuesday in Blue Earth County, authorities said.
David Anderson of Mankato called the Blue Earth County Dispatch at 1:49 p.m. Tuesday after he found a 2-year-old boy on County Road 17 and Highway 60. When the child was found, he was not injured and was wearing pajamas with only one shoe on, authorities said.
When law enforcement got to the scene they began knocking on doors in the area in an attempt to find the child's home. They were able to locate the child's mother, who did not notice that the child had been missing for about 30 minutes.
The Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office said the child has been put in foster care while the incident is under investigation. Blue Earth County officials said the road the boy was found on was not a heavily traveled road, but it is very near Highway 60, a busy stretch in southern Minnesota.
The mother of the child has not been identified at this time, but authorities said there were no signs that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the incident. Officials have not announced yet what will happen to the child.
