Tips For Extending Battery Life On Smartphones
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (WCCO) -- As much as people use smartphones, the battery can drain fairly quickly. If you want to milk more from your phone's battery life, there are a few options to consider.
Ways to extend you phone's battery life include turning off the GPS service of applications that you're not using, setting your screen to turn off more quickly, and turning down the brightness of your screen.
Most of today's smartphones are equipped with lithium ion batters which don't last forever.
"You should expect to get roughly 500 charge cycles," says Matt Dokken, a mobile sales lead at Best Buy in Eden Prairie, about the life of a smartphone's battery.
Manufacturers have noticed consumers' frustrations with draining batteries, and continue to come out with battery pack add-ons.
One product is the Power Bank 6000, which retails for $99 and promises an additional 24 hours of talk time. Other options start at roughly $40 and may tack on an additional 4 to 5 hours of talk time to your phone.
