Timeline: When Will Stadium Debate Begin At Capitol?
ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) -- The Vikings stadium debate is rallying this week. Lawmakers postponed a meeting they were supposed to have on Monday but Gov. Mark Dayton still wants to hear from them.
Dayton says he wants all of the stadium ideas written down on paper and given to him by the end of the week.
Then he will take a very close look at them. After that, in about two weeks, Dayton is going to put together a bill and give it to the legislator so they can actually debate it -- including where the stadium will go and who will pay for it.
This will be the first time lawmakers will actually get something in their hands about the Vikings stadium that they'll be able to study and argue about it.
Then comes the hard part -- it's not going to be over the river and through the woods for a lot of these lawmakers at Thanksgiving. The governor wants them back in St. Paul to vote on a stadium once and for all.
Late last week, the Vikings rejected the most recent offer from some lawmakers that involved buying the Metrodome for one dollar.
