Timberwolves Sign Rookie, No. 5 Pick Kris Dunn

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minnesota Timberwolves announced Thursday that they've signed rookie point guard Kris Dunn, their choice with the No. 5 pick in the NBA Draft.

The Timberwolves start play in the NBA Summer League on Friday.

Dunn, a 6-4 guard from Providence, scored 12.8 points per game and added 5.1 rebounds, 5.8 assists and more than two steals per game over his college career. Dunn played in 95 games for the Friars over three-plus seasons. He's the only player in Providence history to have career totals of 1,000 points, 400 rebounds, 500 assists and 200 steals.

As a junior, he scored 16.4 points per game, had 5.3 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 2.5 steals. He was named the Big East Player of the Year, Big East Defensive Player of the Year and a Second Team All-American. Dunn was also named the league's player of the year as a sophomore.

Dunn and the Timberwolves will face the Denver Nuggets in their first NBA Summer League game in Las Vegas at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
