Timberwolves Fans Excited For NBA Draft Night
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- It's a big day for Minnesota basketball fans. The NBA Draft is being held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, Thursday night, and the Timberwolves have the No. 1 overall pick.
It's the first time in franchise history that the Timberwolves have had the No. 1 overall pick. Who they will take in that spot is still a secret in the hours leading up to the draft, but fans are excited about the prospects. The popular opinion as that the Timberwolves will take Kentucky forward/center Karl-Anthony Towns. The other possibilities are Duke center Jahlil Okafor and Ohio State guard D'Angelo Russell.
The Timberwolves are hosting an NBA Draft Party at Target Center Thursday night, and fans couldn't be more excited as the franchise looks to land another potential superstar to pair with Andrew Wiggins.
"I think we're going to take Towns and I think we should be on the up-and-up from there with Wiggins and Flip back in the fold. I'm cautiously optimistic I'd say," fan Jack Zipoy said.
"Okafor is going to add to it tonight. I absolutely, absolute think it's Okafor," fan James Thomas said.
"Don't mess it up. We're getting a good player, this is our year," fan Sony Keo said.
The Timberwolves also have the No. 31 and No. 36 picks, both second round selections.
The Timberwolves are expecting at least 9,000 fans to fill the Target Center for Thursday's draft party.
