Thome Returns To Minnesota With Indians
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Jim Thome is back in Minnesota, a place where he only spent a short time but still managed to leave a lasting impression.
Thome returned to town with the Cleveland Indians on Friday for the first time since the Twins traded him last month. The slugger played 179 games with the Twins over the last two seasons and hit his 600th career homer as a member of the team earlier this season.
But Thome says he will remember the friendships he made in Minnesota more than any of the 37 homers he hit.
The Twins sent him to Cleveland in hopes of getting him back into a pennant race as his career winds down. But Thome has hit just one homer with the Indians, who have faded in AL Central race.
