This Year's Hottest Halloween Costumes Are ...
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Maybe you've rocked the same Halloween costume for the past few years. Consider trying something new this time around, something trendy and cool for 2012.
Take a look at what WCCO's Angela Davis found at a Minneapolis costume shop and online.
What's hot this Halloween, mirrors what's been in the news the most. Presidential candidates on the campaign trail -- and British royalty celebrating milestones.
"Because of the election this year, the presidential masks and candidate masks will be popular, and because of England and the Queen's anniversary on the throne, royalty both her generation and the younger one," said Brian Berberich, who owns a Halloween shop.
Wedding gowns that look like Kate Middleton's are on the hot list this year. As are costumes that surround royalty scandals.
"A wig, in many cases if they are doing a famous person, the wig is what will identify who that person is," Berberich said. "I am sure Lindsay Lohan will be popular this year. Amy Winehouse was popular last year. The bad girl is always popular it seems like."
Superheroes remain classic favorites -- Spiderman and Batman costumes continue to rule. And for people who spend a lot of time on YouTube, you can go Gangnam Style this Halloween -- that lovely pastel-colored tuxedo jacket is available online for men and women.
But, if you want to go for a more subtle disguise, you can simply become super muscular or for one night, you can be super pregnant.
You can rent Halloween costumes at Theatrical for $50 for two days. Many of the costumes you can buy at Party City and Spirit Halloween are around $25.
