Third Teen Dies From Injuries Suffered In Wis. Crash
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The day after a vigil was held for two Wisconsin teens killed in a crash on I-94 last week, authorities confirmed Monday that a third teen has died as a result of injuries suffered in the crash.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation said 17-year-old Zach Zajec of New Richmond, Wis., died Monday.
Zajec suffered "critical head, chest and extremity" injuries in the crash that claimed the lives of 16-year-old Jordan Johnson and 17-year-old Joshua Goodrich. The crash happened on July 30, when the SUV the teens were riding in collided with the back of a flat-bed semi, which had stopped for traffic, in western Wisconsin.
Zajec was driving the SUV.
A fourth teen – Thomas John Wanless, 17, now the crash's only survivor -- also suffered injuries.
On Sunday night, a vigil was held for Johnson and Goodrich at New Richmond High School.
