Third Rabid Skunk Found In St. Cloud
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities in St. Cloud are telling residents to be sure their pets are vaccinated after a third skunk found recently tested positive Friday for rabies.
The city says its Animal Control Division reported capturing the skunk on the city's south side. It's the third skunk to have tested positive for rabies in the past three weeks.
The skunk had several encounters with dogs. But the dogs' owners told authorities that their pets are up-to-date on vaccinations.
The skunk had no contact with humans.
If you are bitten by an animal, seek medical attention, especially if you come in contact with their saliva. Also, tell children not to touch unfamiliar animals, wild or domestic.
