BLAINE, Minn. (WCCO) -- A group of burglars responsible for as many as 40 home break-ins has been caught.
The Blaine, Coon Rapids and Spring Lake Park police departments teamed up with the Ramsey and Anoka County sheriff's offices in the investigation.
A news release from Blaine Police breaks down the location of the burglaries, mostly in the north metro:
Ramsey County: 6
Blaine: 5
Coon Rapids: 8
Spring Lake Park: 3
Anoka County: 6
Bloomington: 2
Maple Grove: 4
Fridley: 2
"Quite a bit of property has been recovered and a significant amount has been returned back," said Blaine Police Chief Chris Olson.
Olson said computers, video game systems, jewelry and guns were common targets. Burglars often hit while the owners were at work.
Some of the stolen loot was recovered from pawn shows in Anoka, Hennepin and Ramsey Counties.
"We don't have any charges out there at this point in time but we do believe they are coming here in the near future," Olson said.
There are between four and five suspects who have been identified so far. They were busted thanks to a burglary attempt that was stopped by a homeowner in Blaine. A description of a getaway car led to the bust several days later.
