Thermo Fischer, Walgreens Home Care Cut Wis. Jobs
MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- A company that makes scientific instruments plans to close its plant in Two Rivers by early next year, eliminating 140 jobs.
Thermo Fischer Scientific Inc. notified the state this week of the impending closure.
The company says permanent layoffs will begin on Dec. 5 and wrap up within about two months. It says an exact date for the closure hasn't been set.
Also this week, Walgreens Home Care Inc. informed the state of plans close its operations in Wauwatosa. About 69 workers will lose their jobs in a two-week period starting Dec. 6.
In both cases, the companies said the job cuts are expected to be permanent.
