The Last Mini Coke Bottles Roll Off The Line In Winona
WINONA, Minn. (WCCO) -- It's the end of an era: the last miniature Coke bottles rolling off the line -- and it's happening in Winona Tuesday.
"They're going to run 6,000 six-and-a-half ounce returnable bottles tomorrow in Winona at their facility which they've been in for the last 80 years," said company spokesman Kevin Morris.
Those last 6,000 miniature Coca-Cola bottles will be sold for $20 apiece with proceeds going to a Lake Winona bike path.
Morris said there's a lot of interest.
"There'll be bottlers from all over the Midwest coming in for this celebration," he said.
The Winona plant is the last in the country still filling those miniature bottles from the 1940s and 1950s.
