Thanks To Donations, Mpls Center For Homeless Stays Open
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A North Minneapolis organization was able to serve its community Easter dinner today, thanks to WCCO-TV viewers.
Last week, a WCCO-TV report told you about the Prayer Center on West Broadway, which was in danger of closing for a second time because of financial troubles.
However, after our story aired, the center received thousands of dollars in donations to keep its doors open.
On Friday afternoon, people in need gathered for a Good Friday dinner.
Organizer Jariland Spence says her prayers were answered.
The center needed $2,500 to keep lights and gas on to serve Friday's meal. After the report, however, people came forward with more than $4,000.
