Tests Find AHS Shelters Clear Of Dog Flu
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Further testing of dogs at all Animal Humane Society shelters found that there were no cases of dog flu in any of the facilities.
According to AHS, nasal swab tests conducted by the University of Wisconsin found no evidence of H3N2 in any of the animals and also found two dogs diagnosed with pneumonia post-adoption were also clear of the virus.
Toga, the dog diagnosed earlier this month with H3N2, has recovered and is also clear of the virus.
AHS said all of the dogs that were quarantined tested negative.
With no cases of dog flu, AHS has resumed adoption of all dogs.
AHS said some dogs may have developed kennel cough, which can look similar to dog flu. Adopters concerned about the health of their animal should contact their veterinarian. The Humane Society will provide free medication for adopted animals within 14 days of adoption.
