Teens Cited For Makeshift Pool In Truck Bed In St. Michael
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – It's hot outside. And while it may be tempting to take the beach with you, the water is best left at the lake.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 16-year-old boy was given a warning after a trooper saw him driving a truck with a makeshift swimming pool in the bed.
Shortly before 4:45 p.m. on June 23 a trooper pulled a driver over near the intersection of Lincoln Drive and MN 241 in St. Michael for a cracked windshield and having occupants in the bed of the truck.
As the trooper walked up to the truck, they noticed the occupants were wearing swimsuits. Additionally, the bed was lined with a tarp and filled with water.
State Patrol said the driver was given a warning for the cracked windshield. The owner, an 18-year-old man who was the front seat passenger, was given a warning for unsafe operation and no proof of insurance.
The three females, aged 18, 18 and 17, were all given citations for not wearing seatbelts. However, these were later rescinded.
According to State Patrol, as the trooper was leaving the scene the females were all seated in the back of the truck, wearing seat belts.
