Teen Dies After Early Sunday Shooting In Minneapolis's McKinley Neighborhood
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 17-year-old boy was fatally shot early Sunday morning in Minneapolis's McKinley neighborhood.
The Minneapolis Police Department says officers heard gunshots in the area of the 3200 block of Aldrich Avenue North at about 2:25 a.m. As they were searching for the source, officials from North Memorial Health Hospital called police to report a teenager had arrived by private vehicle, suffering from a grave gunshot wound. He died hours later at the hospital.
Investigators later found out the teenager appeared to be in a confrontation with someone when gunfire broke out.
No arrests have been made, police say. The suspect, or suspects, fled before officers got to the scene.
This shooting marks the 80th homicide in Minneapolis this year. For comparison, last year's homicide total was 48.
