Teen Pleads Guilty To Bringing Gun To Minn. School
ROCHESTER, Minn. (AP) -- A 17-year-old Rochester boy has pleaded guilty to bringing a gun to Mayo High School.
The teen entered his plea Monday in juvenile court. He will be sentenced Nov. 2.
It happened Aug. 16 when students were picking up their schedules for the school year. Police say the teen -- who attends another Rochester high school -- reached for a .44-magnum handgun in a car when he was confronted by a school liaison officer in the Mayo parking lot. The two scuffled, and the teen ran before police arrested him.
The Post-Bulletin reports that according to the petition, the boy had a loaded magazine for the gun in his backpack when he was arrested.
The gun was not loaded when authorities found it stashed inside a backyard play house.
