Teen Charged With Aiding In Brooklyn Park Murder
BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. (WCCO) – A 16-year-old Brooklyn Park man is accused of aiding in the murder of Jennifer Scott last week at a Brooklyn Park apartment complex.
DeShawn Brasson, 16, was charged with four counts of aiding and abetting murder and robbery on Friday in Hennepin County District Court. Prosecutors said they are seeking to have the court certify that Brasson stands trial as an adult.
According to a court petition, witnesses said they were told by Brasson that an adult suspect and he were going to rob Scott. Brasson told witnesses that the adult pistol-whipped the victim and then shot her in the head. Investigators also were able to lift a fingerprint from the victim's car that matches the adult suspect's and a blood stain on Brasson's clothes came from the victim, according to the petition.
Scott was shot and killed July 7, and Brasson turned himself into police July 9.
The adult remains in custody in the Hennepin County jail with criminal charges pending. The investigation is continuing.
