Teen Charged In Stabbing At Light Rail Station
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Prosecutors say a 17-year-old boy wielded a knife at a Minneapolis light rail station and repeatedly stabbed a man who wouldn't answer a question about the train schedule -- all while the victim was on the phone with a 911 operator.
The Minneapolis teenager was charged Wednesday with four counts of felony assault. Prosecutors are seeking to have him tried as an adult.
According to the complaint, the incident happened late Dec. 29 at the Franklin Avenue station. The teen asked a man about the schedule, and the man told him to check it himself.
Prosecutors say the teen got upset and pulled out a knife. The man called 911, but the teen stabbed him, causing numerous injuries including a skull fracture that will require surgery.
The teen is in custody. It was not immediately clear whether he had an attorney.
