Target's 'Trophy Wife' T-Shirt Puts Retailer In Critics' Cross-Hairs
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Minneapolis-based Target is being accused of selling sexist T-shirts for women with the words "Trophy" and "Mrs." on them.
The shirts stirred online criticism and one woman has even started an online petition aimed at getting the retailer to stop selling the shirt.
The company has since apologized and said the shirt is a part of a collection of apparel that includes engagement and wedding themed attire.
"It is never our intention to offend anyone," the company said in a statement to CBS. "These shirts are intended as a fun wink and we have received an overwhelmingly positive response from our guests."
