Target Employees Take Over Target Center For Annual Meeting
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Downtown Minneapolis was flooded by a sea of red Thursday.
Target held its annual Fall National meeting at Target Center. Employees heard from the CEO and they also got to hear a few surprise performances from some major artists.
"Traffic has been soft, competition fierce, but for us it's only halftime," Target CEO Brian Cornell said.
Addressing Target's tough quarterly sales, Cornell asked Target leaders and team members to deliver in products, marketing, and the big holiday campaign to turn things around.
"I believe in this team," Cornell said. "I know we get to write the final chapter."
But the day wasn't all business. The annual meeting brings excitement each year as employees anticipate surprise performances from major artists. This year the acts included Bon Jovi, Gwen Stefani, and Garth Brooks.
As far as Target's next move, Cornell said the company is trying new initiatives like craft beer offerings, and will be opening new stores in new neighborhoods of major markets.
Cornell said he's confident in his team to make the remainder of the year after halftime, a win.
"I think authenticity is a lot of what we have been talking about, to know the state of the state is important to us," Target employee Kelly Triggs said.
All together there were more than 13,000 employees filling those seats inside Target center.
Target does plan to make their holiday campaign public near the end of October.
