Talking Points: Political Spin In High Gear Over Health Care
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Now that the Supreme Court has upheld Health Care Reform the political spin from both sides is in high gear.
Democrats may have won the legal battle but the law remains controversial. And Republicans in the House say later this month they will vote on repealing the Affordable Health Care Act.
The vote will be entirely symbolic because a repeal measure will go nowhere in the Democratically controlled Senate.
Republicans are also saying vote for us in November so a repeal really can go forward. But Democrats say the more people that get to know the law, the more they will like it -- including small businesses.
Sen. Al Franken appeared on WCCO Sunday Morning.
"Ninety six percent of small businesses have fewer than 50 employees and they are all exempt from this, so 96 percent of businesses are exempt," he said. "If you have 25 employees or fewer you get a tax credit for this. Look, there are so many good parts of this law."
That symbolic House vote on the repeal of the Affordable Care Act is scheduled for July 11.
