Maple Grove Theater Shooting Suspect Captured In Brooklyn Center
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Police in Maple Grove have arrested a man in connection with the weekend movie theater shooting that left two people injured.
The Maple Grove Police Department says 23-year-old Cortez Quincy Foster of Brooklyn Park was captured after an extensive house-to-house search in Brooklyn Center, with help from a K-9 unit.
Foster is a suspect in the Saturday night shooting at the parking lot of the AMC theater on Elm Creek Boulevard. The shooting left two people injured and each of them identified Foster as the shooter, authorities said.
According to a warrant document filed in Hennepin County, the victims told police that they met up with Foster late Saturday night.
At the theater parking lot, Foster allegedly told the victims to get into the back of his cousin's car, where Foster demanded money and pulled out a gun.
When the victims attempted to get away, Foster shot them. He hit one victim in the neck and the other in the abdomen.
The victims said they planned to go to the emergency room, but the 911 dispatcher told them to pull over and wait for police. Officers found them at a Wendy's in Brooklyn Park.
They were both hospitalized and are expected to survive.
The day after the shooting, police said that moviegoers likely didn't hear the gunshots.
"To my knowledge, nobody called," Capt. Adam Lindquist said. "I think it was during a movie so the first call we got was the location that the victim's fled to and then we responded here to process the scene."
Foster was wanted on two charges of attempted murder.
