Man Charged In Brooklyn Park Triple Homicide
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO/AP) --Criminal charges have been filed in connection to last month's triple homicide in Brooklyn Park.
Police say 34-year-old Eddie Matthew Mosley, of St. Louis, Mo., is currently in custody. He has been charged with three felony counts of second-degree murder.
Fifty-nine-year-old DeLois Brown and her parents -- 81-year-old Clover Bolden and 82-year-old James Bolden -- were found dead in a Brooklyn Park home and day care, located on College Park Drive, on April 9.
No children were at the day care at the time. Police Inspector Todd Milburn said a mother dropping off her child at the house discovered the bodies.
In a press conference Monday afternoon, Hennepin County Attorney Marlene Senechal said each of the victims was shot in the head, execution style. Some suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
"Five of the six gunshot wounds were contact wounds, which made it even more brutal (if one can imagine) than the typical kind of murder," she said.
According to the criminal complaint, Mosley was believed to have been trying to fight a sexual assault charge relating to a relative of one of the victims.
The complaint says that Mosley was allegedly involved with a juvenile family member. He told the relative that they needed to "make it go away," referring to the impending criminal sexual conduct charge.
"We believe his motive was to ... kill the victim so she could not testify against him," Brooklyn Park Police Lt. Eric Nelson said. When asked if Brown and the Boldens also were targets, Nelson said: "We can only speculate as to who he intended to kill when he got to the residence."
Authorities also say Mosley is related to Brown, but they wouldn't say how, exactly.
Mosley was arrested in Hennepin County on April 27 on a Wright County warrant for 1st degree criminal sexual conduct. The complaint says Mosley sexually assaulted the juvenile family member twice in 2011 -- once at Wisconsin Dells in July and then again in Otsego in October.
One witness told police that he was with Mosley on the day of the incident. He said Mosley told him to take his vehicle to a convenience store to buy cigarettes and coffee. When he returned to pick Mosley up, he said Mosley was covered in blood and said, "I f***ed up."
Authorities would not comment on the status of the witness who was with Mosley and drove him back to St. Louis.
Mosley will be headed to Hennepin County to face charges soon, Senechal said. He is currently in the Wright County Jail.
