Suspect Arrested In St. Cloud Punch Death
ST. CLOUD, Minn. (WCCO) – St. Cloud Police have arrested a 17-year-old male in connection to an unprovoked attacked that killed a 20-year-old Greenfield man.
Sgt. Michael Koeniguer from the St. Cloud Police Department said the suspect, from St. Cloud, was arrested around 4:25 p.m. on Monday afternoon in connection to the death of Colton Gleason.
According to St. Cloud Police, Gleason was in an alleyway between 8th and 9th Avenues South on Thursday evening. He was walking south with a group of friends when a four-door, mid-to-full-size passenger car, which was driving north up the alley, stopped. One of the occupants got out of the car and punched Gleason.
He died from his injuries on Friday evening.
The suspect is currently being held in a St. Cloud juvenile detention facility.
Gleason was the captain of his soccer team at Orono High School. On Thursday night, the team will honor him by retiring his jersey.
Police continue to investigate the case, and will hold a news briefing at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the St. Cloud Police Department headquarters.
