Surprise: Ellen DeGeneres Drops In At Target Field
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Twins fans got a pretty big surprise at Monday's game, and WCCO-TV was in on it.
When Bert Blyleven circled a fan early in the game, it turned out to be Ellen DeGeneres, who said that her first trip to Target Field was also her first trip to a major league ballpark.
"If I'm going to see a baseball game, my first baseball game is going to be in Minnesota," DeGeneres said in an interview with Fox Sports North.
DeGeneres praised Target Field, saying it was beautiful, clean and showed no signs of spitting.
"It's very green, which is very responsible of them. So I like it," she said.
According to Twins fans Ryan and Emily Rother, who sat next to DeGeneres, it didn't take long for her to embrace the concept of Minnesota nice.
"She was very friendly and very nice," Ryan Rother said.
During the game, DeGeneres was also active on Twitter. She asked the Minnesotans following her what she should do while in Minnesota.
She tweeted: I'm at Target Field! Did y'all know this year's the 20th anniversary of the Twins winning the World Series? Good day to be in MN.
DeGeneres is in Minneapolis to promote her move to 4 p.m. on WCCO-TV this fall.
If you want a chance to see DeGeneres in person, you'll want to show up in downtown Minneapolis around 11:15 a.m. Tuesday by the Mary Tyler Moore Statue in front of Macy's. There will be another surprise, and WCCO-TV is also in on it.
You'll also be able to see DeGeneres every weekday at 4 p.m. on WCCO-TV, starting on Monday, September 12.
The last tweet DeGeneres made in Minnesota Monday was this: It's been a beautiful day at Target Field. Plus, I got circled by Bert!
