Summit Gets Bigger Beer Barrels, Keeps It Local
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Summit Brewing Company is bringing in new tanks to keep up with the popularity of its beer.
Last summer the company ran out of capacity, and it didn't want that to happen again.
The new tanks will double the amount of brew Summit can make to 240,000 barrels a year.
And that's beer made and sold in Minnesota.
Summit's founder, Mark Stutrud, said more and more people are acquiring a taste for flavorful beer made close to home.
"The fact that a beer is made in Minnesota, it tastes a little bit better to more and more people," he said.
Keeping it local was a big factor in the whole project. The new tanks were made in St. Cloud and installed using technology from other Minnesota businesses.
The project is expected to be finished by July.
