Study: Half Of U.S. Men Have H.P.V.
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A study released tonight said that half the men in the U.S. could be infected with the most common sexually transmitted virus.
The human papillomavirus, or H.P.V., is best known for causing cervical cancer in women.
However, it also causes several cancers in men, including head and neck cancer.
The study in the Lancet looked at more than 1,000 men and found about half were infected with H.P.V.
Doctors hope the results will be a wake-up call for more people to get tested.
