Storms Bring Damaging Hail, Winds To Twin Cities Metro
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Storms that swept across Minnesota Tuesday brought golf-ball-sized hail that broke windshields and shattered storefront windows in the southern metro.
The Eden Prairie Police Department tweeted a photo of a squad car with its rear window smashed in by hail just before 8 p.m. In Bloomington, hail smashed windows in the Wells Fargo Plaza, leaving broken glass in the 24-story building's entry ways.
The storms also brought high winds, capable of knocking over large trees in areas like St. Louis Park. The tree pictured below fell over near 33rd and Xylon Avenue.

Power Outages
An outages map on Excel Energy's website shows multiple outages in communities in the southwest metro. As of 8: 30 p.m., the website said the total number of Excel customers without power is more than 40,000.
Road Closures
Tuesday's storms also brought heavy downpours, which left roads covered in water. The State Patrol said that Highway 77 near the Mall of America was closed briefly due to standing water.
