Storms Clearing Out, Heat Advisory Lifted
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- If you're going to fireworks displays Wednesday night, you should stay dry in the immediate Twin Cities metro.
Lines of strong storms rolled across the metro Wednesday morning and early afternoon, delaying and even cancelling Fourth of July parades in various Twin Cities communities. Edina delayed the start of its parade until storms cleared, Delano's celebration went on as planned but the City of Eagan canceled its parade.
WCCO Meteorologist Lisa Meadows says the last of the storms will clear the Twin Cities by about 3 p.m., and the metro should remain dry the rest of the day.
The National Weather Service also lifted a heat advisory in effect for the metro, with temperatures in the low to mid-70s due to the storms and heavy rainfall.
Storms that went through the metro Wednesday morning brought hail to Savage and also brought down trees.
Strong storms are still rolling through southeastern Minnesota, bringing strong winds along with heavy rain and small hail.
Those heading to fireworks shows south and west of the Twin Cities should remain on alert for rain and storms that will develop around dinner time. But again, the immediate metro should stay mostly dry.
The rest of the week looks great, with mid-80s and less humidity expected Thursday.
