Stolen Urn With Mom's Ashes Found At Winona State
WINONA, Minn. (AP) -- Winona police say a stolen urn holding a woman's ashes has been recovered at Winona State University.
Police Sgt. Gary Hoeppner says a maintenance worker at the school found a backpack in the campus gazebo Friday and notified campus security.
The backpack contained a number of items, including the urn with the ashes intact. A 20-year-old woman had reported the urn missing from her vehicle on Sept. 11.
A KAGE radio report says university officials are reviewing surveillance video to try to figure out who left the backpack.
